Empowered To Thrive

Module 4 -
Defining Your Authenticity

“You attract the right things when you have a sense of who you are.”

Amy Poehler

Understanding your identity helps you to become more self-aware. Finding your TRUE YOU includes understanding how you think, feel and choose uniquely. These are your intrinsic values, the thing that makes you authentic. It is important to know who you are uniquely. If you don’t, others will proceed to tell you who they think you should be.

The right environment and healthy relationships empower you to be your TRUE YOU. You cannot be the true version of yourself if you start acting like another person and suppress your own gifts, talents and persona. You cannot shape your life or influence your world if you are operating according to someone else’s identity – operate in your own authenticity. When you do, you are reflecting God’s love and His glory into your world. This is why you were created, but you can only do that when you function as the TRUE YOU.

Exercise 4

Think honestly about yourself, your relationships and your environment. Focus on the three areas below and how you use them uniquely. Explain your answers.

  • Are my Emotions healthy or toxic?

  • Do I make right, or wise, choices?

  • What are my thought processes like?

Use those as a base to answer the following:

  1. What brings me the greatest joy?

  2. What frustrates me most or makes me sad?

  3. Do the things that I am doing, or involved in, make me happy or sad?

  4. Are my relationships mutually beneficial?

  5. Can I grow in these relationships?

  6. Is my environment conducive for my growth?
