Empowered To Thrive
Module 6 -
Rediscovering the TRUE YOU
Self-discovery is the start of great leadership.
Step 1 - Re-establish A Connection With The Source
God created human beings; He created them godlike, reflecting God’s nature. He created them male and female. (Gen. 1:27).
Dr. Caroline Leaf says, “When people pursue an identity apart from God, it leads to confusion.” God is the Source of all good things, and who we are, came out of Him. A child gets its identity from its father because the father is the one who carries the seed. The male impregnates the female, who incubates the seed until it is a full-grown infant ready for birth. That child is a product of its parents, beginning with the father, who in this case is the carrier of the seed.
Humanity was taken out of God, the Source of all life, therefore He is the father of all humanity. If we get our identity from our father, then it means that ultimately our identity comes from God, the Creator and Father of all humanity. Learn to spend time with Him each day, because when you do, He will increase your knowledge of your TRUE YOU.
You focus on what you love, so learn to love spending time with God and you will begin to see more of Him in you. Your self-image will change drastically with the reality that God is in you, and you came from Him and are in Him.
Meditate on this:
-
You are a valued and valuable person because you are created in the image and likeness of God
-
You are a person of worth because of your divine heritage
-
You are significant and important
-
God calls you the apple of His eye
-
Your name is tattooed on the palm of His hands, so He can never forget about you
-
He is always thinking good thoughts about you
Exercise 6
Focus on the excerpt above and complete the exercise after answering the following questions:
-
Do you spend quiet time each day in meditation and prayer?
-
If so, how strong is your connection to the Source?
-
If not, is it something you will now add to your daily routine?
-
How important is believing in a higher power to you?
-
If you believe, how has it helped you with knowing yourself?
Exercise 6b
If you would like to connect or reconnect with God do this:
-
Repent of every sin and ask Him to forgive you. (Yes, it’s that easy).
-
Invite Christ into your heart and ask Him to become your Lord and Saviour.
-
Believe that He heard you and answered your prayer.
-
Give Him thanks for granting your request.
